For consistent good work and for his cheery and placid attitude in unpleasant circumstances. He came out with his Battalion in February 1915 and has remained with it except when wounded on the 13th October 1915. He is a very useful officer as Second-in-Command. He sets a very good example to all.

For especially good work and devotion to duty during the period under review. Major Wilson is second in Command of the Battalion and for a period of a few weeks has commanded it. He has always shown great zeal and capability in his duties and on many occasions has done very good work in trying circumstances. He came to France with the Battalion in February 1915 and has been with it ever since, except for a few months at home when wounded. He was Mentioned in Despatches in January 1917, New Years Honours List.

For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the period under review and during three years active service with the 1/5th Battalion Lincolnshire Regt. This Officer has commanded his Battalion with great skill, notably during the recent operations against the enemy's withdrawal in the GORRE-ESSATS Sector. His enthusiasm and courage on all occasions and cheerfulness under the most trying circumstances has inspired all ranks under his command and brought the Battalion to a high degree of efficiency.
