241323 Pte. Ernest TUPLIN

(Recommended for Military Medal)

For conspicuous gallantry on May 30th 1918 when the enemy attempted to raid our trenches at Route 'A' KEEP, N.W. of FESTUBERT. Early in the morning the enemy put down a heavy artillery and trench mortar barrage and then attacked with his infantry. All the area between the front line and Company H.Q. was subjected to very heavy fire, but Pte. Tuplin volunteered to carry a message from his Platoon to Company H.Q. He went right through the shelling to Company H.Q. and delivered his message: then he at once returned passing a second time through the shelled area. He showed courage of the highest order.

Submitted 01/06/1918; Awarded M.M. 08/06/1918; also Card of Recognition.
