(Recommended for Military Medal)

For conspicuous gallantry on the 17th October 1918 when the enemy positions S.E. of VAUX ANDIGNY LES FERMES were attacked. During the attack on the village of ANDIGNY LES FERMES this N.C.O. made repeated attempts to dislodge two hostile machine-guns which were causing casualties. He did this in the face of an enemy field gun firing from a wood beyond the objective. The courage and determination with which he attacked these guns in spite of casualties enabled other troops to advance and silence them. He displayed courage and leadership of a high order.

Submitted 19/10/1918; Awarded M.M. (IX Corps HR/660) Brigade message dated 07/11/1918
