(Recommended for Military Medal)

For conspicuous gallantry on September 29th 1918 when the enemy positions East of BELLENGLISE were attacked. During the attack by the Battalion on MAGNY FOSSE this man took over command of a Lewis-gun Section, the N.C.O. having been wounded. When nearing the village he knocked out an enemy machine-gun which was causing trouble, and later led his Section into the village with determination, capturing some forty prisoners and two machine-guns. This man is not in possession of any decoration.
