For conspicuous gallantry on the 17th October 1918 when the enemy positions S.E. of VAUX ANDIGNY were attacked. During the attack on ANDIGNY LES FERMES this man took command of the remainder of his Section and having located an enemy machine-gun on the edge of the village, which was inflicting casualties, worked round the position and attacked it killing the team and capturing the gun. He showed courage and initiative and set a fine example to his Section.
