For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on June 12th 1917, when employed as a Company holding the line west of LENS. On this day a raid took place just to the right of this Company. A message had to be taken to Battalion H.Q. the telephone line being broken. Pte. Robinson took this message over the open through the BOIS DE RIAUMONT which was being very heavily shelled at the time. Later in the day he found the cellar he lived in had been hit and the doorway blocked, two men being imprisoned within and suffering from want of air. By himself, and under heavy shell fire, he got the men out and was probably the means of saving their lives. This man has previously done much good work and shown a fine example of fearlessness.
