(Recommended for Distinguished Conduct Medal)

For exceptional services and gallantry during the period under review (22/09/1917 to 24/02/1918) and for general good work throughout a period of nineteen months. He has on many occasions shown great coolness and initiative under fire. He is most trustworthy in emergency, a great help to his officers, and sets a fine example to his men. In various bombardments by the enemy when the Battalion was holding the CAMBRIN Sector he did very good work.

For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty for a period of nineteen months, and especially during six months' operations. This non-commissioned officer is always trustworthy in an emergency, a help to his officers and an example to his men. When the Battalion was holding a sector which was repeatedly bombarded he was always cool and courageous.
