241750 L/Cpl. George Robert LUNN

(Recommended for Military Medal)

For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on July 1st 1917 when the Battalion attacked the enemy positions in CITE DU MOULIN, S.W. of LENS. The Company to which this N.C.O. belonged had reached a position from which it could not advance owing to strong opposition. The enemy was then seen preparing to counter attack. The No. 1 of a Lewis-gun became a casualty at this moment and L/Cpl. Lunn at once rushed forward, got the gun into action, and inflicted many casualties on the enemy. He also commanded a Lewis-gun team during a subsequent counter-attack, and by his vigilance and quick action materially assisted in the repulse of the enemy. He behaved with great coolness and gallantry throughout.
