(Recommended for Military Medal)

For conspicuous gallantry and services on 17th October 1918 when the enemy positions S.E. of VAUX ANDIGNY were attacked. This man who is a Battalion Scout was sent forward with Pte. Moore as an observer and to assist in guiding one of the leading Companies on a compass bearing through the thick fog. He accomplished this successfully and later gave valuable assistance in locating hostile machine-guns. He was continuously on duty until after night and carried out his duties with great courage and determination under severe machine-gun and shell fire.
