(Recommended for Military Medal)

For conspicuous bravery under fire and devotion to duty especially on 20th April 1917 at CITE ST. PIERRE when acting as linesman during a heavy bombardment. Having carried in a wounded comrade, he went out again under a heavy barrage and succeeded in repairing the wire. He showed gallantry and devotion to duty on many occasions during the period 19th - 23rd April as the lines were many times broken and L/Cpl. Ironmonger repeatedly went out under heavy shell fire and repaired them.
