(Recommended for Military Medal)

For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on the 9th October 1918 when the Battalion attacked FRESNOY-LE-GRAND and during subsequent operations on the 10th October 1918. This man who is a runner on Battalion Head Quarters was on duty carrying messages under heavy shell fire continuously for nearly 36 hours. His courage and determination on the night of the 9th October when FRESNOY-LE-GRAND was very heavily shelled, was most marked. He never failed to deliver his messages and I cannot speak too highly of his services and of the splendid example he set to all ranks. This man is not in possession of any decoration.
