242240 Pte. George Henry HANSON

(Recommended for Military Medal)

For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on 17th October 1918 when the enemy positions S.E. of VAUX ANDIGNY were attacked. This man, who is a stretcher bearer, showed the greatest courage in attending to the wounded under severe machine-gun fire, exposing himself freely regardless of danger in order to carry out his duties. Later when our new positions were heavily shelled he again showed courage of a high order. He was on duty under fire continuously for fifteen hours.

Submitted 19/10/1918; Awarded M.M. (IX Corps HR/660) Brigade message dated 07/11/1918
