(Recommended for American Distinguished Service Medal)
This man who came out with the Division on 28th February 1915 and has served with it continuously since, as a stretcher-bearer and has on many occasions displayed gallantry and devotion to duty of a high order, particularly on the 3rd October 1918 at RAMICOURT when he was constantly on duty attending to the wounded under heavy shell and machine-gun fire. The example he set inspired the other stretcher-bearers and he undoubtedly was the means of saving many lives.
