240477 Sgt. Harry DOUGHTY

(Recommended for Military Medal)

For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on July 1st 1917, when the Battalion attacked the enemy positions at CITE DU MOULIN, S.W. of LENS. This N.C.O. was in charge of the advanced report station, which was in a badly shelled area, and he set a splendid example to the other men there. On one occasion hearing that one of his men was wounded, he went out in full view of the enemy under heavy fire and spent twenty minutes searching for him. As Scout Sergeant of the Battalion for the last seventeen months, he has on many occasions done most gallant and valuable work.
