(Recommended for Military Cross)
For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on July 1st 1917 when the Battalion attacked the enemy positions at CITE DU MOULIN, S.W. of LENS. The left assaulting Company was checked and Captain Disney, who was in command of the supporting Company, went forward with his Company. As soon as he had his Company in the front line, he took command of this section of the line and remained in command for the remainder of the day. He organised the line of resistance, and lost no opportunity of attempting to get forward, and harassing the enemy. He was constantly on the move, supervising the line and this entailed considerable personal danger, as the enemy fire (artillery, machine-gun and snipers) was very heavy all day. He showed readiness to command, considerable initiative, and throughout did most valuable work sending in most useful reports.
Submitted 04/07/1917; Returned by Division, with remark that it should be submitted for Honours Gazette.

Again on September 18th 1917, S.W. of CITE ST. ELIE, when in command of a raiding party (strength 5 officers and 123 other ranks) this officer led his party with great dash and, when held up by a strong enemy barricade, at once organised an attack upon it. He was the last out of the enemy trenches, remaining until all the wounded had been evacuated. This Officer has done continuous good work as a Company commander extending now a period of eight months, and his unfailing cheerfulness under unpleasant conditions has a most inspiring effect on his men.
