This Warrant Officer took part in the storming of the ST. QUENTIN CANAL and the breaking of the HINDENBERG LINE on September 29th 1918. When across the canal, his Company was ordered to attack the main line of enemy trenches. After suffering heavy casualties this Warrant Officer rallied his Company and without hesitation, went straight for his objective. His coolness and utter disregard for his personal safety and his skill in leading his men at once decided the issue of this part of the battle and enabled his Company to establish itself firmly in the strongly defended enemy line.
