For conspicuous gallantry and good leadership on the 17th October 1918 when the enemy positions S.E. of VAUX ANDIGNY were attacked. When owing to casualties and thick fog, Platoons had become disorganised he rendered inestimable service in organising scattered bodies of men under heavy fire and leading them forward to the objective. Later when the objectives had been reached he displayed courage and skill in supervising the consolidation of his position. Throughout he displayed courage and ability of a high order and his work in reorganising scattered bodies of men contributed largely to the success of the operation.
